Learn About Voting by Mail:
Communicate to your friends and neighbors that they can vote by mail, but they must meticulously follow the directions, or their ballot will not be counted!! A few important points:
• There is no longer a “straight ticket” box to check. You must mark the ballot for every office.
• Official list of Delco of Drop Boxes.
• You must seal your ballot in the secrecy envelope and then put that secrecy envelope into the larger envelope or it won’t be counted! (please read the directions carefully). What is a Naked Ballot?
If you receive your ballot late, you have the option of bringing it to the drop box at the Radnor Township building or voting at your polling location by bringing your mail in ballot and having your Judge of Elections destroy your ballot and you may then vote as normal.

Return your vote by mail ballot by:
- Sending it in the mail. Allow time for delivery ¬– the ballot must be received by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
- Delivering it in person to a County election office (you may only hand-deliver your own ballot). Check back on this page for a list of approved locations and hours. The Bureau of Elections office at 201 W. Front Street in Media is currently open 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday.
- Depositing it one of Delaware County’s approved ballot drop boxes.
Seal your voted ballot in the provided privacy envelope and then the official return envelope. Make sure to sign and date the declaration on the outside of the return envelope.
It’s important to know your vote is final once your county receives your voted mail ballot. However, you may cast a regular in-person ballot at your polling place by surrendering your mail ballot and envelope to the judge of elections to be voided.

Absentee voting VS. mail-in voting
Here’s the difference between absentee voting and mail-in voting, which is important to know for your purposes:
Absentee voting: This applies to you specifically if you plan to be out of the municipality where you are registered to vote on election day — or if you have a disability or illness that prevents you from getting to the polls. You’ll need to list a reason for requesting an absentee ballot.
Mail-in ballot: If you’re not an absentee voter, you can vote by mail. You don’t need a reason to request this ballot. You can get one simply because you want to mail in your vote to ensure you don’t need to go to the polls on voting day.
If you have a valid PA driver’s license or photo ID you can apply for your mail-in ballot online at www.votespa.com/ApplyMailBallot. You’ll be asked three questions: are you military or overseas, will you be absent from your home on Election day, and do you have an illness/disability. This is to determine whether a mail-in or absentee ballot is right for you. If you answer “yes” to any questions, you should apply for an absentee ballot. If you answer “no” to all, you will be able to apply for a mail-in ballot.

Tutorial Video of the County’s new voting machine
Delaware County voters will be using the Hart Verity 2.3.4 Voting System beginning in this year’s Primary Election on April 28. The system, certified by the PA Department of State, meets the Governor’s mandate for a verifiable paper trail. It includes plain text which voters can read to verify their vote before casting their ballot.
